Redding, CA is a fly fishing hub - many of the best wild trout rivers in the State are within striking distance of town. In any direction north, south, east or west, fantastic fishing adventures await. We are trout fishing somewhere all year around, although, prime seasons do exist on each of our local waters. Knowing when and where is my job!

Some of the most consistent and productive steelhead fishing on the west coast can be found right here in northern California. We spend much of our time on the Trinity River which is the largest tributary to the Klamath River system. Historically, the Klamath River supported one of the largest salmon and steelhead runs on the entire west coast. While it's still possible to hook an anadromous steelhead in both of these rivers nearly every month of the year - prime periods occur in the late summer, fall, winter and spring.

Our Chinook salmon season takes place on the Trinity River during the summer months of July, August and September. Things kick off with the springer season after 4th of July and concludes with fall-run Chinook salmon in October. We target salmon with gear rods/reels while fishing from my drift boat. It's also common to find a few summer-run steelhead during this time. We primarily pursue these fish with Spey and switch rods and this is prime season for swinging flies on the Trinity River.

Northern California offers some incredible bass fishing opportunities. Whether we are targeting smallmouth bass in the tributary creeks along the Sacramento River or fishing local ponds and sloughs for largemouth bass or targeting all three species: spotted bass, smallies and LM on Shasta Lake... there are plenty of bass fishing opportunities around these parts! Spring and summer is the primetime. The float n' fly is a deadly technique on our reservoirs, and nothing beats an early morning topwater session!
