Steelhead Season on fire…

It’s been a while since I have made any Blog posts… I have been incredibly busy these past few months. I’ve also not been very active on the Social Media. Taking a little break from that, too.

Rest assured we have been on the rivers almost daily (both the Trinity and Lower Sac) and I’m happy to report that the fishing has been very good for steelhead so far this season… and it’s just the beginning!

After a slower start back in September (the fall-run Chinook seemed a couple weeks late) we really are seeing good pushes of steelhead throughout the Trinity River system. By mid October the numbers of fish we were seeing was getting impressive. Of course, with that comes the crowds and word travels fast! The small river, at times, was a bit over-crowded… but who can blame anglers for wanting to get in on a good time?

I decided to take a little break from the fish reports not wanting to add to the “hype”. Not sure it makes much of a difference really… only a small number of people even read this Blog anyway. And most of you already fish with me!

November has arrived and I would say that the Steelhead Season on the Trinity is looking very good. We definitely need some rain and a weather pattern change. Flows out of the Trinity/Lewiston lakes is 300cfs with a very slight influence from a few trib creeks pushing it to around 400cfs in JC.

My fairly new Adipose boat is taking a beating w/ these sustained low flows.

The Nov and Dec calendar is completely booked and most of my guide buddies are as well (the best ones are booked up). If you hesitated on getting guided fall fishing dates this year you missed out. Look ahead to January and February as I am quite confident the stlhd run will remain strong as we move into the “late-fall-run” of fish. Contact me asasp if you want to plan a steelhead trip later this winter.
