Winter-Run Salmon Return Into McCloud River…
“This is the first time since the construction of Shasta Dam in the early 1940s that the winter-run Chinook salmon were placed in the McCloud River. The CDFW were able to take 20,000 of the original 40,000 eggs to McCloud River to swim in their natural spawning grounds before being safely gathered to make their journey down the Sacramento River to the Pacific Ocean.”
