Big Rains…
Well, Ma Nature is at it again and she’s delivering a doozy…
Currently, Northern California is directly in the path of the spigot which has been turned counterclockwise more than a few turns. We are getting absolutely dumped on.
Snow levels seem a bit high but hopefully will drop as we move through the week. Getting all this rain is nice but it would be REALLY nice to load up on snow in the higher elevations like the Trinity Alps, Marbles, and Mt Shasta and Intermountain areas around Burney.
Water is for drinking, but snow is for banking away for a later day… if Mark Twain were a modern day angler he might of said that.
As all the rivers are waaay high for the foreseeable future I am keeping busy doing other things… I have to stay busy when these hands are not holding oars otherwise I go stir crazy.
So, I’m cleaning up and putting away my waterfowl stuff (seasons over) decoys, blinds, cleaning shot guns, organizing the bass boat (next clear day I’m heading to the lake) and also brining batches of wild salmon (from AK) and curing snow goose breasts for pastrami. We got into the snow geese real good the last week of the waterfowl season in the Sacramento Valley. Today is a Smoke Day and the Green Mtn pellet smoker is cranking away!
When the dust settles and the rivers drop I will be out there. Lower Sac or Trinity I do not care which. As we move into February and especially March I will get more excited about the Lower Sac and the bass fishing out on Shasta Lake.
Get a hold of me soon to book some spring fly fishing dates… March is one of my favorite months on the Lower Sac. The Sundial Bridge section will close on April 1st.
