Shasta Lake Bass Heating Up…

The arrival of March brings spring weather and noticeably longer days… and with daylight savings time is just around the corner we are finally turning the corner from winter season.

This is an amazing time to go fishing in northern California and Shasta County in particular. We have lots of options for fly fishing over the next 3 months!

The two fisheries I will be spending the most time are: Lower Sac River for trout & steelhead and Shasta Lake for spotted bass.

I have been fishing both the river and lake almost daily but if I had the choice on my day off rn I am heading to Shasta Lake. The spotted fishing is getting better and better and will soon be wide open.

Techniques like the float n fly are beginning to crush it as the spots are moving into shallower water during their pre-spawn mode. The lake is pretty full and will be at full pool again this summer. Water conditions are perfect for early March.

Get a hold of me soon for available dates… you don’t want to miss out on the best season of the year for bass fishing our amazing local lake.
